Will AI Replace Us? A Young Adult’s Perspective in the Age of Generative Intelligence

Published on Juan Luis

As a young adult living in a world transformed by artificial intelligence, I often ask myself a question that many people, both inside and outside the tech industry have probably asked too: “Is AI going to replace us?”
In my opinion, the answer isn’t a simple yes or no. There are far too many factors involved.

It’s natural to feel intimidated by AI, especially considering how quickly it’s evolving. As I write this, Google has just launched Gemini 3, and even more advanced models are already on the horizon as we move into 2026. Artificial intelligence can now perform many tasks faster than humans, and that reality is reshaping entire industries. Like any major shift, it can feel overwhelming.

However, I believe that AI rather than replacing humans is becoming a powerful tool that requires a skilled operator. A tool is only as effective as the person using it.

I’ve mentioned AI throughout this post, but let’s get more specific: generative AI. Today, AI can generate videos, text, images, audio, code, and more. Does that mean artists, developers, writers, or photographers are going to be replaced?

As I said earlier, the answer isn’t straightforward. If I had to give a short answer, it would be: partially but not in the way people fear. Generative AI doesn’t create magic out of thin air. It requires good prompts, context, and human judgment to produce the outcome you want.

A lot of the fear around AI comes from not understanding how it works. Without diving deep into the technical side, here’s the basic idea: when you type something like “Can you improve this text?”, the model uses patterns it learned during training to predict the most likely next words. It breaks your request into small units called tokens and then assembles a coherent response by choosing the most probable sequence of words or elements.

That’s the extremely simplified version but understanding even that much helps remove some of the mystery, If you want more information about it check this Article.

To wrap up, generative AI is undeniably changing the way industries operate, and this transformation is already underway. Over time, more tasks will be automated tasks humans won’t necessarily need to do anymore. But at least for now, humans are still needed to guide, supervise, refine, and correct AI outputs.

My advice is simple: adapt to the change. Learn how to use AI to your advantage. Grow with it, not against it. AI isn’t here to replace you it’s here to empower those who know how to leverage it. Yet again, this is just my opinion. The debate is still open, and there are countless possible scenarios for where AI is headed. All I can do is keep learning, keep adapting, and keep growing alongside it. Who knows, maybe in a few years, I’ll have a completely different perspective. For now, all we can do is wait and see what the future of artificial intelligence has in store for us. It’s both exciting and a little terrifying.
